History[]

Sold along with her sister, Kurome, to the Empire - Akame was trialled for experimental assassination units to be lead by Gozuki. After her and Kurome both qualified for testing, the two were seperated - with Akame going on to become one of the Elite 7, she was then gifted the Shingu, Kiriichimonji, which she used all through her time as a part of the squad.

Akame excelled as a killer, and would quickly earn a reputation with her squad and among the enemies of the Empire - as she helped silence those who would dare speak out against the government. On one mission concering the Oarburghs, her and Kurome were both captured, having been reunited thanks to the diminishing numbers of the Elite 7. Akame would be subject to tortue for weeks, being abused by her lustful capture, but also receiving a valuable second insight of the true nature of the Empire - breaking through her brainwashing and questionning the cause she was fighting for. She still put her sister first, however, and stuck with the Empire long enough to be trained by Great General Budo, before being assigned to assassinate Former General Najenda, who was now the face of the rebellion.

On this mission, Akame was ambushed by Bulat - being unable to defeat Najenda or Bulat, but being spared as the two wished to recruit her into their force. Akame reluctantly accepted, but swore she would try to sway as many of her allies before she left. This resulted in her attempting to kidnap Kurome, and being forced to murder Tsukushi and Gozuki on her way out, acquiring Murasame in the meantime, but being forced to lose Kurome as Akame fell into the river, knocked out from her wounds.

Akame would now become a member of Night Raid, finding comfort and comradeship with the assassins - succeeding in a great many murders including one such mission against Aria and her family, seeing her meet Tatsumi for the first time. After briefly fighting Tatsumi she, along with the other members of the team, welcome him aboard and take dramatic steps towards toppling the Empire. Akame would succeed in killing Zanku, Ibara, Toby, Dr Stylish and many other hard targets for the rebels - before helping sway Wave and Kurome to defect from the Empire - not having to fulfill her duty to assassinate her own sister.

In the final battle of the revolution, she took on - and ultimately defeated - General Esdeath in single combat, breaking the spine of the Imperial Military. As a result of the battle, Akame was severely weakened and left the Capital to pursue the secrets behind her own, and Tatsumi's Teigu - wanting to free them from their respective curses. She travelled by sea, ultimately ending up saved from her shipwreck by Hinata - who Akame would train, once more being recruited into a war - this time without her Murasame and with a new group of friends to call family.

Personality[]

On the surface, Akame is a cold killer who puts the mission before all else. But as the series progresses, more sides to her character are seen. She's kind and caring for her team mates, deeply loves her corrupted sister, Kurome, and every loss of a friend hurts her. She also loves to eat, and will devour entire dishes in a moment's notice (all that killing must be hungry work).

Akame has a great sense of justice, despite technically doing things illegally and despite being an assassin, does not like taking lives that don't have to be taken.

Abilities[]

  • Amazing reflexes and immensely fast
    • Uses those abilities in tandem with dodging and counterattacking.
  • Skilled strategist
  • Can fight well even without her blade
  • A lesser used, but very effective trick, was letting people disarm her of Murasame as the Teigu would not bond with many others.
    • This often gave her enough openings to cut down her opponent
  • Trump Card: Little War Horn
    • Is activated by cutting herself with the Demon Sword
    • Immensely improves Akame's attack and speed

Weaknesses[]

  • Despite her amazing strength, Akame lacks necessary armor for defense
  • Akame has limited range with her sword and must rely on her high speed to close the gap
  • The Murasame was destroyed in the manga
  • The full extent of the Trump Card's effects are unknown and appear to be permanent
