King Dedede is a character from the Kirby series. He fought Bowser in an episode of One Minute Melee. He has also fought against Wario from the Mario franchise in an episode of Death Battle, and Amy Rose from the Sonic the Hedgehog series in an episode of DBX.

History[]

King Dedede is the self-imposed ruler of Dreamland on the planet Popstar, the same planet that became home to the powerful Star Warrior Kirby. During one of Dedede's greedy schemes do hoard all the food in Dreamland for himself, he crossed paths with the equally hungry, and righteous, pink puffball; the result was a crushing defeat for Dedede and the start of a lifelong rivalry. Fortunately for the residents of his domain, Dedede's one-track mind against his enemy put less emphasis on genuinely evil schemes, and his status as a villain has become questionable as he focuses more and more on simply defeating Kirby in battle. However, the two big eaters have also allied on several occasions.

Personality[]

King Dedede is a gluttonous, greedy monarch who loves all things food; he even once commanded his forces to steal all the food in Dreamland for himself. After Kirby thwarted him, Dedede gained a second life passion; destroying Kirby. But after failure after failure, he has become to see Kirby as more of a rival than an enemy. For his part, Kirby has also falsely accused Dedede of crimes he did not commit.

Despite being a King that seemingly cares little for his subjects, Dedede is much more kind in reputation than Bowser or Ganondorf. He will step to the front lines to fight against threats to Dreamland such as Nightmare or Haltmann Works, and team up with Kirby when necessary.
