The Medic is a character from the game Team Fortress 2 and one of the 9 playable classes. Although there is a red and blue variant, this page shall discuss the Medic from a Red-centric view.

History

Dr. Ludwig lived most of his life in Stuttgart, Germany, in a time where "the Hippocratic oath had been downgraded to an optional Hippocratic suggestion". Despite what his name might suggest, Ludwig's medical training is questionable at best, having lost his medical license after stealing his patient's whole skeleton. At one point, he made a deal with Satan himself, although it is not yet known what he sold his soul for. Ludwig was eventually hired by the Red Company as The Medic, becoming a valued, yet infamous member of the Red Team for his (skewed) medical expertise and unethical experiments.

In the comics, The Medic was eventually hired by Gray Mann and joined the Team Fortress Classic team after being fired from the Red Team along with the rest of his fellow mercenaries. Although he was initially hired to find the Administrator and kill the rest of the Red Team, The Medic had a change of heart (after enduring heavy abuse under the Classic Heavy) and rejoined the Red Team, joining the fight against Gray Mann to regain control over Mann Co.

Personality

The Medic is an intelligent yet maniacal man of science, who considers healing a generally unintended side effect of satisfying his own morbid curiosity. He enjoys violence at great heights and especially adores his unethical experiments (an example being the dismembered head of a BLU Spy being kept alive inside of his fridge). Despite his lack of compassion for the sick, respect for human dignity, and any sort of verifiable formal training in medicine, the Medic makes up for it by his surprisingly competent battle experience, being supportive and responsible to his own team, especially The Heavy. Ludwig is also a scientific genius, his intelligence even being capable of outsmarting Satan, allowing him to escape Hell and return to the living world, resurrected.
